Local customers are important to market to. It isn’t always easy reaching your local market–at least not in a way that is going to be effective or beneficial. One storage facility in North Bethesda, MD has found a way to do both. Storage Village is hosting an art contest that is helping this facility’s beautification, connection to the community, and showcasing a dedication to community service.
This inaugural event, called Village Illuminated Art Contest, allows local artists to use 7′x8′ exterior storage doors as their canvas. Each artist will have 8 hours to paint something that exemplifies community service. On April 14th of this year, the storage doors will be transformed into works of art.
In a press release, J. Goldberg, Director of Marketing, Storage Village Self Storage is quoted as having said, “I am so grateful to be able to inspire and ignite art within my community. By supporting art within the community, individuals are encouraged to think creatively and share their ideas.”
This project is a good thing and a good example of how a facility can connect with its community and glean a little advertising and publicity from it. Putting your self storage facility out into the community is a positive way that shows you appreciate the talents in the area is fantastic. Events like these have positive points for all parties involved. Instead of doing something standard like sponsoring a little league team or advertising in a local newspaper, this facility has opted to take a different route and support the arts. Finding ways to connect with the local surroundings is important for any storage facility to try to accomplish.
Getting involved with the community is one of the best ways to promote and market your self storage facility. Finding new ways and traditional ways to connect with your potential customers and to spread the word about your self storage facility isn’t always easy, but it should be beneficial if you find the right avenue for your situation.
