Whenever you need extra time, space, or peace of mind, Lackland Self Storage is here for you. We provide storage solutions to help you manage whatever comes next in your life.
It all started when the Lackland family was vacationing in California in the 1970s, and Fred Lackland decided to visit a Los Angeles "public storage" facility. A friend had mentioned the recent phenomenon of self-storage to Fred; as a builder, Fred saw an opportunity to grow his reputation and offerings, and his interest was sparked.
Back home in New Jersey, Fred and his brother Dave built a small storage facility in Piscataway in 1977. A single-story building with a metal roof, it was one of the first self-storage facilities in the state. Introducing computerization and enhanced security early on, Lackland Self Storage quickly became a pioneer in the industry.
Now in its second generation of family management, Lackland Self Storage is one of the largest operations of its kind in New Jersey. Today, Fred's son Michael is President and CEO of the Lackland family of companies, Michael's brother Bruce is our Director of Quality Assurance, and Fred oversees new construction.
