Salvaged jewels from the Titanic are to go on display in a three-city tour. During a 1987 research and recovery mission conducted by RMS Titanic, Inc., a collection of jewelry was found inside a handbag. The collection included diamond and sapphire rings, brooches, necklaces, cufflinks, and a gold pocket watch. Alexandra Klingelhofer, vice president of collections for RMS Titanic, stated that the purpose of the exhibit is to show the public the wonder of exploration. Conservators and curators have been studying and preserving the jewelry to gain a better understanding of the individual lives of the passengers aboard the ill-fated voyage. The Jewels of Titanic will bring together fifteen of the most immaculate artifacts recovered from the wreckage of the ship. The jewelry is set to go on display on November 16 at the Premier Exhibition Center in Atlanta, GA. After that, the collection will then go on to Titanic: The Experience in Orlando, Florida from January 11 until March 12. Following the Orlando display, the precious artifacts will end their tour at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at the Luxor Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
