Santa Claus Inc. is a non-profit organization that helps in-need
parents provide Christmas gifts for their children. Volunteers have been busy
working on handcrafted gifts from children’s clothing to doll clothes. “Elves”
have also been at work preparing for the Christmas Tree Lane Fundraiser, Reflections,
which is on November 30th and December 1st. With tons of support for the
community Santa Claus Inc. has been able to serve almost 465,000 local children
since 1952. Approval is based on parents’ income, those meeting qualifications
are invited to shop at the Sixth Street warehouse where they are able to choose
from top quality books, educational materials, brand new clothes and toys, and
personal care items for children in the San Bernardino area. Friday and
Saturday’s annual fundraisers are the non-profits biggest events.
Another San
Bernardino native is also in the holiday spirit. Arthur Davis was raised in a low-income
neighborhood and attended school at San Bernardino Valley College as well as
New Mexico University. He later retired after a successful career with General
Motors. On November 19th, Davis was back in his hometown to help ease the
stress of the holiday season by giving out $15 vouchers to residents on the
city’s West side. He gave out more than 300 vouchers, totaling nearly $5,000
for the community he grew up in.
