About this facility

Santa Clara Public Storage has it all, from cheap self storage to moving boxes and moving supplies, all in one place. On the east side of Lafayette Street right where it crosses the Bayshore Freeway, this facility provides easy access from Interstate 880, San Tomas Expressway, Montague Expressway and Highway 87. Ranging from small to large, nearly all of the storage rentals at this location are indoor storage units. This facility also offers the option of outdoor storage units, as well as climate controlled storage units. There's only one way to experience gameday at Levi's Stadium, and that's with a proper tailgating. When it comes to storing pre-game essentials, there's only one place to do it: a 5x10 storage unit at this location, which is big enough to hold folding tables, chairs, coolers and small grills just minutes from the stadium. For folks looking for storage space near Mineta San Jose International Airport, look no further than this location just a few blocks west. Travelers can use a 10x15 storage unit to keep important personal or business travel items handy all year long. Convenient for families in North San Jose, a 10x30 storage unit can accommodate an entire five-bedroom home's worth of stuff, when it's moving time or getting ready for a heavy duty remodel. Approximately four miles from many of the area's most popular attractions and destinations, including California's Great America, Santa Clara University and the Santa Clara Convention Center, this centrally located Public Storage facility is ready to tackle the Santa Clara community's self storage needs, 7 days a week.

Errors and Incorrect information all around

The reservation process and notifications prior to move-in all went well. However, when filling out the paperwork he insisted that we had to carry the insurance even though we confirmed that our homeowners insurance covers it and I had the declaration page. He said that we had to pay for insurance on the unit or couldn't rent. So, we agreed since we had to move in that day. Then that night I read the fine print in the contract and you absolutely do NOT have to buy their insurance or any other. I called to get the insurance removed and the first month insurance charge credited back to my account and was told that they wouldn't be able to credit me and can only change the account in person. I live in another state and was only in town to move into storage for one day. Also, when we saw the 5x10 unit we knew we didn't need that much space so requested a 5x5 unit instead which were available. However, the same guy said that it wouldn't make sense because the rate we got on the 5x10 unit was less than the 5x5 rate so we stayed with that unit and moved in. Then I go home that night and search online and find that this was also not true. There were 5x5 units available to rent at that facility for $18 less per month. Finally, they really push buying moving supplies in the store. He really pushed buying more than 10 boxes to get the quantity discount with the assurance that you could return them for a full refund on anything we didn't end up using. So we did, but guess what? We didn't need half of the boxes and went in to return them and get a refund and got attitude and the total hassle. I had to be very insistant just to get my refund on unused boxes. All around bad taste in my mouth and now I am having to spend endless hours calling the local storage facility, Public Storage central customer service, etc. just to get their employee errors corrected and set my account straight.

Close to home but inexpensive compared to other facilities

Some of the storage facilities near my house are expensive. This was very reasonable for a large size unit (10x15). I was hoping for an exterior rollup door but they don't have that. The staff was able to find a unit a short walk inside the facility which I was happy to get. I like using my own lock but they need customers to use the new round, almost bullet-proof locks instead. It's safe, I just hope I don't forget to bring the key. It's right off the freeway which is very convenient for me. The staff was friendly and did their best to respond to my needs.
